Relations with Madagascar

  • Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Madagascar and the Sovereign Order of Malta were established in 1990.
  • A Postal Agreement between the Republic of Madagascar and the Sovereign Order of Malta was signed in 1992
  • VISITS: in November 2016, the Grand Hospitaller took part in the 16th Summit of the Francophonie in Antananarivo (Madagascar).

– Support for a leprosarium run by the Soeurs de Cluny in Fianarantsoa.

Maternity hospital managed and supported by the Order of Malta since 1999, under a public service concession with the Malagasy Ministry of Health.

Emergency, gyneco-obstetrics, neonatology and pediatric services.

Respects Catholic doctrine on respect for life in all medical treatment.

  • The PSF is committed to the prevention and care of women suffering from uterine and breast cancer.
  • PSF invests in renovation and modern equipment.

4 social projects to improve mother and child health

1-Advanced strategy

  • 2185 free prenatal consultations in 14 dispensaries around Antananarivo for the most disadvantaged by our mobile clinic in 2023.
  • 144 high-risk deliveries at the PSF for the most disadvantaged in 2023 (ethics committee).
  • Training health centers to manage high-risk deliveries

2-EARS (Education Affective Relationnelle et Sexuelle)

  • 135 awareness-raising sessions in 2023 for women in low-income neighborhoods on body awareness, sexuality, consent, parent/child relationships, baby nutrition, etc…

3-Obstetric fistula (OF)

  • Two FO surgery campaigns (free for the needy) in the maternity hospital, 52 women repaired in 2023.
  • Willingness to set up routine operations.

4-Mikolo Aina

  • Gyneco-obstetric consultation for women in Antanimora, Diégo, Mananjary and Manakara prisons.
  • Awareness-raising and education in Relational, Affective and Sexual Education for women
